Champions Home Selling Tip: De-Personalize

De-Personalize: Take down and pack up any family photos and heirlooms.  It is hard for buyers to visualize themselves living in your home if they are distracted by your personal artifacts. Instead, replace photos with artwork or decorations.  Remember, you may not know who is looking at your home, they maybe an acquaintance or co-worker who could be your potential buyer.

Champions Home Selling Tip: First Impressions, Freshening Up The Exterior of Your Home

First impressions are everything when it comes to selling your home.  As the potential buyers are pulling into the driveway they are forming there first opinions of your home.  It is very important you spend time freshening up or making repairs to the exterior of your home.  When the buyers walk up to the house they will spend a few moments at the front door while the real estate agent gets the key out of the lock box.  The area around the front door is very important when the buyers are forming there opinions on your home.

Here are a few areas to focus on:

  • Front door: is it in good repair including door hardware, paint, no scuffs, & window etc.
  • Stair Railings: does it need to be scraped and painted?
  • Landscaping: new mulch, trim plants and flowers.
  • Concrete: make sure the stairs, driveway & stoop/porch are in good repair.
  • Porch: if space allows add some fresh flower to add some color and cheer.
